Sangeetha Kala Sagaram For
Kalpagam Swaminathan

CHENNAI, March 21: Veena vidushi Kalpagam Swaminathan will be
conferred the title Sangeetha Kala Sagaram at the annual Thyagaraja
Aradhana Festival at Cleveland in the U.S. by the Bhairavi Fine
Arts Society.
The Aradhana is scheduled for the Easter week-end. The festival
begins on March 22 and will last till March 30. |

Sangeetha Kala Sagaram is bestowed
on an artist with a lifetime contribution to the promotion of
the Carnatic arts through performance, training musicians and
teaching.
The Sangeetha Rathnakara title goes to another veteran artiste
Guruvayoor Dorai. This title is bestowed on an artist who has
made a fundamental contribution to the Carnatic arts through
performance and propagation.
Dancer Sudharani Raghupathy will be awarded the title Nrithya
Rathnakara for her contributions to the field of classical dance.
This award was instituted in 2002. The Nrithya Kala Sagaram
title, instituted in 2007, will go to Kalanidhi Narayanan.
Suguna Varadachari will be conferred the title Acharya Rathnakara
for her contribution to the classical arts through teaching
and training successful musicians. This award was instituted
in 2007.
The title Seva Rathna will go to R. Krishnaswamy of Narada Gana
Sabha. This title is being given to him for his contributions
to the Carnatic art through the preservation and study of the
theory and practice of Carnatic music and dance.
Ram and Nandini Mouli will be conferred the title Kala Seva
Mani. This title is bestowed upon individuals who have made
a lasting contribution to the Carnatic arts through their propagation
and demonstration in the U.S. and Canada. The Society has also
decided to confer the Nrithya Seva Mani on Ramya Ramnarayan.
Nrithya Seva Mani is given to an individual who has made a lasting
contribution to classical dance through propagation and demonstration
in the U.S. and Canada.
In addition to these awards, Bhairavi Society also presents
a Best Teacher Award to an individual who has tirelessly promoted
the Carnatic arts in the North American continent by teaching
in the community and providing opportunities for aspiring Carnatic
musicians to showcase their talents. This year, the award goes
to Anuradha Sridhar.
A Special Recognition Award will be given to Padma Srinivasan,
Indo-American Cultural and Religious Foundation.
