Mahathi Makes A Mark
CHENNAI, April 7: K. Mahathi, a class 5 student of DAV Girls
Senior Secondary School, Gopalapuram, gave an hour-long Carnatic
music performance on the keyboard on the morning of April 6
at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore.
This was held as a part of the monthly mike-less ‘Sundaram
Finance Sunday Kutcheri in the Park.
The nine-year-old Mahathi presented popular songs such as `Kaliyuga
Varadhan’ (Brindaavana Saaranga) `Alai Paayude’
(Kaanadaa), `Theerada Vilaiyaatu Pillai’ (Raagamaalika),
Maanasa Sancharare (Shyaamaa) and Sabha Pathikku (Aabhogi).
Mahathi has been learning keyboard for the last three years.
She was accompanied on the Ghatam by Ammangudi S Ramanarayan
and on the Mridangam by Madurai D Sundar, disciples Umayalapuram
Sri. K. Sivaraman.
