A Trust For Fiddle Govindaraja Pillai
CHENNAI, April 12: The inauguration of Isai Perarignar Mayavaram
Fiddle Govindaraja Pillai Trust, a newly-formed organization,
will take place on April 17.
The function will take place at 6 p.m. at Sivagami Pethachi
Auditorium, M.CT.M. School, Alwarpet in Chennai.
The Trust is formed by the husband-wife duo - T.P. Shanmuganathan
and S. Viji. Mr. Shanmuganathan is the president of the Trust
and Mrs. Viji the Secretary. Mrs. Viji is the daughter of Mayavaram
Govindaraja Pillai.
Mr. Shanmuganathan said the Trust would organize Carnatic music
festival every year. He is an American citizen and retired as
an official of Bank of America in Washington DC. His wife was
a teacher in a county school in the U.S.
Mr. Shangumanathan (also known as Shan Pattu) said the Trust
was formed with own funds. The Trust, he said, had decided to
give violin to five deserving students from Carnatic Music College
here. He indicated that the Trust would also provide scholarships
to students of music.
