Priyamvadaa to play vioilin at Sundaram Finance Sunday Park Concert


CHENNAI, May 29: As part of Sundaram Finance's mikeless Sunday Kutcheri in the Park, R. Priyamvadaa, a 15-year-old student studying in Sri Sivaswami Kalalaya, Mylapore, will present an hour of Carnatic music on the violin this Sunday morning (June 1, 2008) at Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore.

Priyamvadaa will be accompanied by Harish Kumar on the mridangam and by Chandra Sekara Sharma on the ghatam.

Priyamvadaa has been learning violin from Akkarai S. Swaminathan. She is also learning carnatic vocal music from Rukmini Ramani and Ashok Ramani Launched in February 2006, the Sundaram Finance Sunday Kutcheri in the Park takes place on the 1st Sunday of every month between 6.30 am and 7.30 am and is open for children below 15 years.

Mikes and speakers are not used at the Sunday Kutcheri in the Park. Sundaram Finance's audition committee conducts an audition to finalise the artistes.
