Harmonium Habba on June 15

BANGALORE, June 13: The Bijapure Harmonium Foundation will organize a Harmonium Habba on June 15. This is the second such Harmonium Habba being organized by the Foundation.

The even will happen on June 15 at Seva Sadana, 14th Cross, Malleswaram, Bangalore. It will be a two-session event. The morning session will begin at 9.30 a.m. and the evening one at at 6 p.m.

The Habba will start with a Hindustani harmonium solo by Suyog Kundalkar from Pune. There will be a Hindustani classical vocal recital by Sangeeta Katti Kulkarni. This one will be followed by a Carnatic harmonium solo by Palladam Venkataramana Rao from Chennai.

The evening session will witness an unusual harmonium-flute jugalbandi by Bijapure’s disciple Ravindra G. Katoti and M. Pranesh. There will also be a Hindustani harmonium solo by Pandit Rambhau Bijapure.

The accompanying artistes will be Ravindra Yavagal(tabla), Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma (mridangam), Umakant Puranik (harmonium), Charulatha Ramanujam (violin), Udayraj Karpur (tabla), Omkar Rao (ghatam) and Keshav Joshi (tabla).

The objective of organizing the Harmonium Habba is to promote harmonium as a solo instrument.
