Violinist Nandini & Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan in jugalbandi concert


CHENNAI, June 18: Kapri Art & Music Promoters has joined hands with Narada Gana Sabha to present a unique jugalbandi concert, featuring a violinist from the Carnatic music field and a sitar artiste.

Titled `Strings meeting strings’, the jugalbandi will see violinist Nandini Muthuswamy and sitar artiste Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan come together on a common platform.

The event will take place at 6.45 p.m. on June 24 at the Main Hall of Narada Gana Sabha here.

Born into an illustrious family of musicians, Kalaimamani Dr. Lalitha Muthuswamy (one of the popular violin sister duo - Kalaimamani Dr. M Lalitha and Kalaimamani M. Nandini) represents V. Lakshminarayana tradition of music. A Fulbright Fellow, she is a recipient of numerous awards.

Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan is one of the finest sitar players of the modern day. He learnt his craft from his father Ustad Aziz Khan. He is the nephew of the legendary Ustad Vilayat Khan. A recipient of numerous awards, including the 'Sur Shringaar', the 'Kumar Gandharva Samman', and Sangeet Natak Academy Award, he has performed in all major musical festivals in India and abroad.
