Festival dedicated to mridagam artiste Subramania Pillai

CHENNAI, July 20: Chennai Fine Arts is organizing a special music festival dedicated to mridangam maestro Pazhani M.Subramania Pillai.

The three-day festival will commence on June 20. It will be held at Gokhale Sastri Institute, K.N.Shanmugasundaram Hall, 16, Karpagambal Nagar, Mylapore. The inaugural day (June 20) will feature a lecture on ‘Rakti in Nagaswaram’ by B.M.Sundaram. This will be followed by a nagaswaram recital at 6 p.m. of Aachalpuram Chinnathambi Pillai. A veena recital by Padmavathy Ananthagopalan will be held on June 21 at 5.45 p.m. The concluding day will feature a lecture on ‘Mukhaveena’ by B.M.Sundaram at 5.30 p.m.
