Top artistes to participate in Svanubhava
CHENNAI, July 2: Matrka, an organization promoted by vocal singers
Bombay Jayashri and T.M. Krishna, and YACM (Youth Association
for Classical Music) have announced the schedule for Svanubhava,
a musical event jointly organized by them exclusively for the
students of Carnatic music.
The event is spread over six days (August 5 to 10) and will
be held between 9 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. The event is being organized
in association with three music colleges – Kalakshethra,
The Adyar Government Music College and The Teachers College
of Music, Music Academy.
On August 5, there will be a concert of N. Vijay Siva at Kalakshethra.
He will be accompanied by R.K. Shriram Kumar and J. Vaidhyanathan.
There will also be lecture concert (on major ragas handled by
legends in concerts). It will be given by Neiveli Santhanagopalan.
He will be accompanied by Pakkala Ramdass, Mannarkoil J. Balaji
and B.S. Purushotham.
On August 6, there will be a concert of S. Sowmya at the same
venue. She will be accompanied by Embar S. Kannan and Neyveli
Narayanan. The day will also feature a lecture demonstration
on padam & javali by Kalanidhi Narayanan and Rama Ravi with
R.K. Shriram Kumar and Thanjavur Kumar.
On August 7, there will be a thaala vadhya kutchery of Haridwaramangalam
A.K. Palanivel. He will also be joined by S. Karthick (ghatam)
and B.S. Purushotham (kanjira). The day will also feature an
explanatory concert on the 'Melakarthas' by S.R. Janakiraman.
He will be accompanied by V.L. Kumar and Thanjavur Ramdass.
The organizers have also roped in senior vocal singer Sudha
Ragunathan for an `In conversation’ session.
On August 8, Adayar Music College will play host to a concert
by Madurai T.N. Seshagopalan.
On August 9, a violin concert of Parur quartet will happen at
the Music Academy. They will be accompanied by Srimushnam V.
Raja Rao and Vaikom R. Gopalakrishnan. There will also be a
lecture demonstration on niraval by R Vedavalli with K. Arun
Prakash. Suguna Purushothaman along with Usha Rajagopal and
K. Arun Prakash will give a lecture demonstration on Pallavi
in rare ragas and thalas. Interestingly enough, the organizers
have also arranged for a lecture concert on beauty of accompaniment
by Guruvayoor Dorai with S. Varadarajan and K Arun Prakash.
On August 10, there will be a concert of TV Shankaranarayanan
at Music Academy. A concert of Jayanthi Kumaresh with Neyveli
Narayanan also figures in the day’s agenda. The day will
also see a lecture demonstration on comparative study on Hindustani
and Carnatic music by Sriram Parasuram and K.V. Prasad.
