Sangeet Natak Akademi has chosen 75 artistes for the one-time Sangeet Natak Akademi Amrit Award under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) commemorating 75 years of India’s Independence.
These are from the field of performing arts.
They are above the age of 75 years and haven’t been accorded any national honour in their career so far.
The Sangeet Natak Akademi Amrit Award carries a purse of Rs. 1,00,000, besides Tamrapatra and Angavastram.
Among the awardees are: Gowri Kuppuswamy, Anasuya Kulkarni (Carnatic Vocal), Mangad Natesan (Carnatic Vocal), R. Ramani (Carnatic Veena) and Kolanka Laxman Rao (Mridangam).
