She talks to www.carnaticdarbar.com on her passion for music and her musical goal.

Tell us about your academic background?
I had my schooling at PSBB Nungambakkam. I have been a topper throughout my years of schooling. I am currently doing my second year in Economics at Stella Maris.

Who is your music guru?
Violin maestro Shri.Lalgudi G. Jayaraman.

What is your experience, learning from him?
Phenomenal. He teaches you the meaning of commitment and inspires you to give nothing short of your best.

What is your aim vis-a-vis music?
My aim is to develop my art as much as possible.

Why did you choose violin?
I started off singing. On the way, I developed a vocal chord problem and, hence, shifted to violin.

Have you also learnt vocal music?
Yes. I started off under Bombay Ramachandran, but then I had to shift. Lalgudi Sir is also very particular that I first learn to sing the song before I play it.

What does music mean to you?
A whole lot! It occupies a very special place in my life. Nothing and no one else comes close to it.

Do you want to take violin as a profession?
Definitely, I want to take it up as a profession.

Who do you see as your role model or someone who has inspired you the most?
My guru.

How do you strike a balance between your studies and music?
If you want something enough, you will find a way to do it.

Do you think music has helped you positively? If so how?
It has helped me to go within and look past external superficialities.

How do you feel about performing for the first time in the ongoing December season?
It is an incredible feeling. I am grateful for every one for the opportunities I have been given. I, on my part, will give my best to each one of my performances.
