Global Carnatic Music Association to hold non-stop concert series
31 July 2008: Global Carnatic Music Association (GCMA) has decided to pay tribute to legendary vocalist late Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer in a unique way by organizing non-stop a series of one-hour concerts.

21 July 2008: Of all the mantras of the Hindu spiritual lore, Aditya Hrudayam is considered the most sacred and powerful. New York-based Oriental Records Inc has announced the publication of a recording of this mantra. It is being distributed in India by Bharat Records International Pvt. Ltd. of Chennai.

Centenary fete of Semmangudi to be a mega event
18 July 2008: Sri Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer Golden Jubilee Foundation and the Centenary Celebrations Committee have announced a mega plan for celebrating the the birth centenary of Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, the doyen of Carnatic Music. The birth centenary falls on July 25, 2008.

17 July 2008: The music school of saxophone artiste Kadri Gopalnath was inaugurated here on Wednesday. The Chairman of Karnataka Bank, Mr. Ananthakrishna, presided over the function.

Vinayaga Natyalaya to present `pengalin perumai', a dance-drama
17 July 2008: Vinayaga Natyalaya, a dance organization engaged in the task of taking Bharatanatyam to rural India, will present `Pengalin Perumai', a natya natagam (dance-drama). It will feature the students of S.R. Meenakshi Priya Raghavan. The `dance-drama' will take place on July 19 (Saturday) at 5.30 p.m.

Bombay Jayashri to perform at Helsinki festival
14 July 2008: For the first time ever, the Finnish chamber orchestra Avanti! has roped in Carnatic musician Bombay Jayashri to give a debut performance of Eero Hämeenniemi's Rain and the red earth on August 28 at the Helsinki festival.

International Society For Laya Awareness hits upon a 40:40 music test

Suswaralaya College lists music schedule
03 July 2008: Suswaralaya College of Music will host a vocal concert of T. S. Vasanthamadhavi on July 5 at Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira, 9th Main , 2nd stage, Banashankari, Bangalore-70. Top artistes to participate in Svanubhava

Maiden mridangam concert by Rishikesh Tirumalai
02 July 2008: Chiranjeevi Rishikesh Tirumalai, a disciple of Dr.Ramachandran Suresh, will give his maiden mridangam concert (arengatram) on July 6, 2008 at 6.15 p.m at the Mini Hall of Music Academy in Chennai. He will provide percussion support for renowned violin artistes and disciples of Lalgudi Jayaraman, Lalgudi Vijaya Lakshmi and Vittal Ramamurthy. Dr. S. Karthick will play the ghatam.

Matrka teams up with YACM to organize music festival for students
01 July 2008: Matrka, an organization formed by singers Bombay Jayashri and T. M. Krishna, has joined hands with YACM (Youth Association for Classical Music) to organize Swanubhava, a festival exclusively for the students of Carnatic music.

N. Murali re-elected President of Music Academy
01 July 2008: N. Murali, Managing Director of The Hindu, is re-elected as the President of the Music Academy for a second-term. The annual general body meeting of the Academy, held here on Sunday last, also saw the election of Habibulla Badsha, C.V. Karthik Narayanan, Lakshmi Viswanathan, P.Obul Reddy, R. Seshasayee and R. Srinivasan as Vice-Presidents.
