Cousins Sandhya and Aishwarya make a mark
at Park concert
CHENNAI, June 7: Cousin sisters - 10-year-old N. Sandhya and 12-year-old Aishwarya Mohan - came all the way from Nagpur to present the Sunday Kutcheri in the Park organised by Sundaram Finance at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore on June 6.

They were accompanied by Master Naveen Srinivas on the mridangam, by Miss C. Sardha on the violin and by Master Chandra Sekar Sharma on the ghatam. Sandhya and Aishwarya are students of Smt. Ranjani Krishanakumar (a disciple of renowned artiste Smt. D. K. Pattammal).

Starting with Purandaradasar’s Sharanu Siddhi Vinayaka ( Hamir Kalyani), the cousins went on to present Muthuswamy Dikshitar’s Ananda Amrita Varshini, Thyagarajar’s Bantureeti (Humsanaadam) and Annamachrya’s Bhavayami (Yaman Kalyani), among others. Mr. P.S. Raghavan, Head, Sundaram Business Services, was present on the occasion and presented certificates and mementos to the artistes.

Sunday Kutcheri in the Park provides a platform for young children under the age of 15 years to display their musical talent in an informal park audience. Mikes and speakers are not used at the Sunday Kutcheri in the Park. Sundaram Finance conducts audition to select the artistes.
