ABHAI to hold special dance recital at Big Temple on September 25
CHENNAI, July 17: The Association of Bharatanatyam Artistes of India (ABHAI) is planning to hold a special programme featuring 1000 dancers at the Brihadeeswara Temple in Thanjavur.

The programme will be held on September 25 to commemorate the 1000 years of the temple.

According to ABHAI, the idea of holding a special dance programme is to kindle an awareness among dancers about the connection between the temple and the dancers in olden times. ABHAI will organize the Brhan-natya yagna as a grand offering by dancers to show their gratitude to the great king Raja Raja Chola on the completion of 1000 years of the temple.

The 1000 dancers will dance on the platform around the Nandi in the campus.

All the dancers will perform a hymn on Vinayaka and verses by Karur Devar. Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam, President of ABHAI has set the music and choreographed the items. The event will start at 5.30 p.m. on September 25. It will be a half-an-hour offering of dance.
