Srinidhi presents an impressive concert
CHENNAI, September 5: Fourteen-year-old S. Srinidhi’s choice of songs and her versatile presentation came in for much appreciation from the informal park audience at the September edition of the mikeless Sunday Kutcheri in the Park organized by Sundaram Finance at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore this morning.
Accompanied on the mridangam by B. Venkatramanan (a disciple of Shri. Guru Raghavendra) and on the violin by Venkataraman Ganesh (a disciple of Smt. Hemamalini), Srinidhi presented a wide range of songs that included compositions such as Thyagaraja’s Nenarunchi Naanu ( Maalavi Ragam, Adhi Thaalam), Papanasam Sivam’s Kaapali (Mohanam – Adhi), Periyasami Dooran’s Muruga Muruga (Saveri - Misra chapu) and the Thirupavai verse of Keezhvaanam Vellendru (Dhanyasi- Kanda Chapu).
Srinidhi’s presentation of Bharathiyar’s Bharata Samudayam Vaazhghave (Behag, Adhi) was specially appreciated by the park audience, who had gathered at the Chess Square of the Nageswara Rao Park.
Srinidhi is a student of Vidya Mandir, Mylapore, and a disciple of Smt. Prema Hariharan.
Mr. C. Muralidharan, General Manager, Sundaram Finance, was present on the occasion and presented certificates and mementos to the artistes.
Launched in February 2006 and organized on the first Sunday of every month between 6.30 a.m. and 7.30 a.m., the aim of the Sundaram Finance Sunday Kutcheri in the Park is to provide a platform for young children aged below 15 years to display their musical talent in front of an informal park audience. Mikes are not used at the Sunday Kutcheri in the Park.
