Indira Sivasailam Endowment award for
Sudha Ragunathan
CHENNAI, October 1: Senior Carnatic vocalist Sudha Ragunathan will be the first recipient of the Indira Sivasailam Endowment award. The annual award is to recognize an outstanding Carnatic musician selected by a panel comprising members from the Endowments Committee of The Music Academy and Ms. Mallika Srinivasan, Vice-Chairman, TAFE, and daughter of late Indira Sivasailam.

Sudha Ragunathan has been selected unanimously by a panel of members from the Endowments Committee of the Academy based on specific criteria which includes excellence in performance, audience appeal, adherence to classical tradition, innovating within the framework, depth of knowledge and demonstrated efforts to disseminate knowledge and the ability to bring about a greater and deeper public appreciation of Carnatic music.

The award will be given to Sudha Ragunathan at a function to be held at 6 p.m. on October 15 at the Music Academy, Chennai. The award carries a medal and a citation. The function will be followed by a concert.
