Mylapore Fine Arts to honour M.S. Gopalakrishnan with Sangeetha Kala Nipuna title
CHENNAI, October 1: Even as the city is readying for yet another December music season, the sabhas here have come out with award lists. The Mylapore Fine Arts Club will honour veteran violinist Parur M.S.Gopalakrishnan with the title “Sangeetha Kala Nipuna” and dancer Radha with “Nrithya Kala Nipuna” title on December 11, 2010 during the Club’s 59th year art festival. Nungambakkam Cultural Academy will honour dancer Padma Subramanyam with the “Life Time Achievement Award”. The award carries a gold medallion, a citation and a purse of Rs.25,000. T.V.Gopalakrishnan will be felicitated with the title “Sangeetha Kala Sironmani”, Revathy Ramachandran (dancer) with “Nrithya Kala Sironmani” and Kudanthai Mali with “Nataka Kala Sironmani”. NCA Excellence Award will be granted to Ranjani Hariharan (Music), Nagai Mukunthan (devotional discourse), K.S.N Sundar ( Tamil theatre), Sujatha Mohan (Bharatanatyam), Sembanarkoil Rajanna (nagaswaram) and R.Krishnaswamy (contribution to fine arts). Each award carries a citation, a gold medallion and a purse of Rs.5,000.The artistes will be honoured during the 41st anniversary to be held on December 5 at Rama Rao Kala Mantap.(For details contact: 44-64529913 or 9840041122).

Narada Gana Sabha will honour Vellore Ramabhadran with the title “Nadabrahmam” and Sirkazhi Jayaraman with “Senior Musician”. The annual music festival of the Sabha will be held from December 15, 2010. It will last till January 2, 201. The festival will be held at Sathguru Gnanananda Hall. Kartik Fine Arts will honour flautist Dr.N.Ramani with “Tamil Isai Vendar”, J.Vaidyanthan with “Isai Peroli”, Lavanya Sankar with “Nadana Mamani”, Bharat Sundar with Isai Chudar” and Anuroopitha Sampath with “Natya Chudar”. It will also honour Mudhra Bhaskar (Kartik Rajagopal Award), Kalldaikurichi S. Sivakumar (Guru Karaikudi Mani Award) and Amrutha Venkatesh (D.K. Pattammal Award) during its annual music festival. Indian Fine Arts Society will confer the titles “Sangeetha Kalasikhamani” on musician Manakkal Rangarajan on the inaugural day of the fest and “Natya Kalasikhamani” on dancer Vyjayanthimala Bali on the concluding day of the festival (on January 4, 2011).
