Jugalbandi at Navarathri Special Kutcheri in the Park
CHENNAI, October 11: Moving away from the traditional vocal Carnatic music performance, the final day of the Navarathri Special Kutcheri in the Park (October 10) saw a Jugalbandi performance. As a part of the Jugalbandi, M. Sarvajit Krishna and S. Subramanyam were on the mridangam. S. Srinath played the ganjira and S. Sasidaran the ghatam. All four of them are learning music from Shri Madurai K. Thiagarajan.

The instrumentalists played the Adhi Thalam for half an hour and Roopaga Thalam for another 30 minutes.

The idea behind the Kutcheri in the Park is to provide a platform for young children aged below 15years to display their musical talent. Mikes and speakers are not used. Sundaram Finance audition committee conducts an audition to select the artistes to perform at the Kutcheri in the Park.
