Good show by Karunya Raj
CHENNAI, Jaunary 18: Karunya Raj, a disciple of Shri. J. S. Murthy, presented a Bharatanatyam recital at Rani Seethai Hall on December 12, 2010. The programme commenced with a Panja Murthi Anjali in Kambeera Nattai Ragam, set to Kauda Ekkam. It was choreographed by Murthy. It was followed by `Jathiswaramn' (Adithalam and Aarabhi ragam). She then presented `Saptham Sarasi Jakshalu', a ragamalika in Misra Chapu talam. It was on Lord Krishna. The main piece was `Roopamu Choochi', a varnam in Thodi and set to Adi talam. The next item was `Pahimam' in Jana Ranjani, set to Adi talam. The recital also had a Padam – Ethirillada - Kambodi, set to Roopaka talam. She concluded the recital with a Kundalavarali thillana. She was supported on the vocal by Koushik, on the Mridangam by Ganesan, on Violin by Vijayaraghavan and on Flute by Kuddapah Raghavendra Rao. The programme ended with a Mangalam. On the whole, it was a good recital.
