Kuchipudi show of Narasimhacharis on Jan 29
CHENNAI, January 20: Legendary dancing duo Narasimhachari & Vasanthalakshmi will present a grand Kuchipudi performance on January 29, 2011. The dance recital will be held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. It will begin at 7 p.m. The show is open for all, says a release.

The mega dance performance is titled `Natya Nivedanam’. It will showcase some rare gems of the Kuchipudi repertoire in an engaging format of duets and solos. The event is sponsored by Ikon car maker Ford India Ltd. It is being organized by Rasoham. It is an entity that believes in the transforming power of art. Since its inception in 2007, Rasoham, a registered private trust, has been in the pursuit of artistic excellence, taking art beyond the realms of entertainment. Rasoham is established by Lavanya and Lasya, the daughters and disciples of the Charis.

Narasimhachari and Vasanthalakshmi are well-known and highly respected performers, teachers and choreographers of the Bharathanatyam and Kuchipudi styles of Indian classical dance. Performing professionally together since 1969, they have enchanted audience - within India and abroad - with their beautiful technique, sensitive expression, and original choreography and sincere devotion to the art. ``The made for each other couple’ also established an institution for music and dance called Kalasamarpana Foundation in 1969. Together with their students, the Narasimhacharis have produced as many as 28 dance-dramas and thematic presentations. Vasanthalakshmi, who began her career in dance at a very young age, joined Narasimhachari as his wife and partner in the year 1969. Specializing in nattuvangam, Vasanthalakshmi also contributes the lyrics for their compositions and assists her husband in all their choreography. She is a Veena player, too. She has to her credit several Sabdams, Padams, Varnams and Mangalams.
