She is currently in 10th grade at Shepton High School in Texas. She has been learning Bharatanatyam since the age of five, and has performed in various dance-dramas with her guru, including Penn, Pandora’s Box, and Seven Wonders of the World.
Over the years, she has used her dance to raise awareness and funds for multiple non-refits organizations such as Asha for education, Pratham USA, Children Advocacy Centre, Asha, Pratham et al. She gave her maiden performance on January 1, 2012.
In fact, she raised $3,000 towards North Texas Food Bank, which is a charitable organization providing food for hungry children in Texas.
She began her recital on this day with a Pushpanjali on Lord Ganesha in Gambira Nattai Ragam. This was followed by Varnam in Ragam Ranjani (composed by Madurai Muralidharan). She also did a piece on Lord Krishna. She was expressive in “Jagado Dharana” in Ragam Kapi. She concluded the evening with a 7-beat Thillana in Ragam Revathi (Mishra Chapu Thalam). The guest of honor was Dr. Anita Ratnam, an accomplished artist in the field. The vocalist for the evening was Mrs. Radha Badri. Mridangam was played by Nellai Kannan, Violin by Mr. Kannan and Flute by Mr. Srinivasan.
