V- Excel Education Trust
NEW JERSEY, January 27: Brindavan, a youth-run non-profit organization based in New Jersey, held its second annual youth Carnatic music festival here on January 17 and 18.

The festival was held in support of V-Excel Educational Trust, a school in Chennai. The school supports children and young adults with special needs. (www.v-excel.org).

Founded by Sharada Krishnan and Adhiti Rajesh in 2013, Brindavani endeavors to promote Carnatic music, and provide a platform for the youth of America to perform and encourage them to give back to the community. The objective is to inspire more people to get interested in Carnatic music, be it through learning, performing, helping organize concerts or becoming rasikas.

Webcast by iCarnatic.org, the event featured 14 concerts by 27 young artistes from across North America.

In 2014, the Brindavani board expanded to 7 members, who are all either in high school or in college and who are also deeply involved in Carnatic music.

The board consists of Sharada Krishnan, Adhiti Rajesh, Kamalakiran Vinjamuri, Abhinav Seetharaman, Vidya Kanthan, Ashvin Ravi, and Srinidhi Rajesh.

Last year, Brindavani supported the Guruvaayoorappan Temple in Morganville, NJ, and raised over $17,000 to build a stage and sound system for the temple's multi-purpose hall. This year, Brindavani exceeded its goal of $10,000 and raised over $12,000 for V-Excel.
