Unto Lord Narayana, I dedicate all the acts that I perform: Sudha Ragunathan
CHENNAI, January 29: Senior Carnatic vocalist Sudha Ragunathan has vowed to
"strive hard to do justice to the responsibilities" placed on her.
She asserted that her music "is completely a gift from God". And, it was honed and blessed
by "my mother Choodamani and guru MLV," she added.
"Unto Lord Narayana, I dedicate all the acts that I perform with my body, speech, mind, senses and intellect," she said.
Sudha Ragunathan thanked the Government of India for selecting her for the prestigious Padma Bushan Award. "Reminiscing on my musical journey through the last three decades, I am extremely grateful for where it has brought me. I thank the Government of India for recognizing my musical and societal contributions and awarding me with the Padma Bhushan. It is truly a wonderful start to this New Year," she said.
"The influence music has had on my life can never be succinctly expressed. To be able to do what I do, to have felt the pulse of the world, to communicate with people through my art and sing to my heart’s content for them, absorbing every single response I get...my experiences have truly been inexplicable," she pointed out.
"My faith inspires me so much. It is the very reason that I am on the move carrying my music across the world," she said. She thanked all "for being with me through this blessed journey, for appreciating my music, interacting with me, supporting and encouraging all of my endeavors in my service to music as well as to society."
