Dhavani to host 3-day festival in Ohio to celebrate centenary of MS
OHIO, March 25: Dhvani India Performing Arts Society of Central Ohio is a non-profit organisation. It is focused on art as education, entertainment as well as a way of enriching one's lives. Dhavani is organizing a three-day festival here to celebrate the centenary of legendary artiste M.S. Subbulakshmi, popularly known as MS.

Begins on April 1
The festival will begin on Friday next (i.e. April 1, 2016) with a musical presentation about M.S. Subbulakshmi, narrated by Dr. Gowri Ramnarayan. A grand niece of the Sadasivams, Gowri had sung with MS, providing vocal support in concerts for more than 15 years. The theme of the presentation is `Born to Sing: a shy girl from Madurai’’. It will provide an in-depth peep into aspects of MS's life and times as well as her music. It will be held at Peggy R. McConnel Arts Centre of Worthington.

The following day, at the Abbey Theater at The Dublin Community Recreation Center, there will be a presentation and concert by violin maestro V.V. Subrahmaniam, who accompanied MS in concerts and in her recordings for many years. He will also speak on the music of MS Subbulaksmi, and explain some of the characteristics of her approach and delivery. The concert will be preceded by an awards ceremony for the winners of the 2016 Children's Music Competition. The winners will receive their awards from the violinist. The concert on Sunday, again at Abbey Theater, will be presented by Aishwarya Shrinivasan, the great granddaughter of Sadasivam and MS. She will be accompanied by Dr. Narmada on the violin and Kallidaikurichi Sivakumar on mridangam.
