'Ghatamphony' in Chennai on March 31
CHENNAI, March 25: Come Thursday (i.e. March 31), the city will witness a unique `Ghatamphony'. It will feature an unusual concert with 50 Ghatams in play. The International Society for Laya Awareness is organizing this event, which is titled `Kumbhodbhavam'. This will, perhaps, be the first time that such an idea is being conceptualized for a concert platform. Authored by senior Ghatam artiste Suresh Vaidyanathan, the `Ghatamphony' will be held at Sri Krishna Gana Sabha here. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. According to Suresh Vaidyanathan, `Ghatamphony' is a melodic expression of rhythmic emotions played on 50 Ghatams. Flautist B.V. Balasai and Mirdangist B. Sivaraman will be guest musicians for the concert.
