Aikya 2017 to bring Sudha Ragunathan and Aruna Sairam under one platform
CHENNAI: Even as the country is celebrating 70 years of independence, city-based Global Adjustments Services Pvt. Ltd., a multi-service provider, has decided to bring under a common platform, for the first time perhaps, the two `show-stoppers' in the world of Carnatic music for its annual fund-raiser concert under the banner of Aikya.

Titled India@70, the never-seen-before concert will feature the two leading ladies of Carnatic music - Aruna Sairam and Sudha Ragunathan. "The duo have climbed the heights of fame through sheer grit and talent,'' says a release. "They have come together in a show of unity,'' it adds.

It will be a 75-minute concert, and transcend language and style.

The concert will be held on the evening of March 25. The venue will be The Music Academy.

Launched in 2010, Aikya is an effort to celebrate the oneness of India through music. It is also intended to support the retiring artistes in the field of music, dance and performing arts.

Global Adjustments Services Pvt. Ltd. is a multi-service provider with over two decades of experience in relocation, inter-cultural training and education, realty and cultural publishing. In addition to this, the company has also been organizing not-for-profit activities for almost a decade under the Global Adjustments Foundation banner, formerly known as India Immersion Centre.

Very exclusive: Sudha Ragunathan will be performing for the third time at Aikya. 'The concept is very new and I always love working with my colleagues. I learn a lot in the process. Aikya is such a unique concept and Global Adjustments almost has a patent on this uniqueness I think. This time, too, Aikya is very exclusive and I am sure the concept will appeal to a lot of people,'' a release quoted Sudha Ragunathan as saying.

Exhilarating experience: "I love working with Global Adjustments and I performed at the first Aikya too. Working with composer Arun Prakash is a great pleasure. Celebrating Women's Day and India in this manner seems so wonderful to me,'' the release quoted Aruna Sairam as saying.

Big responsibility: Arun Prakash will curate and design Aikya 2017. "This has been a big responsibility and among the most challenging things I have done... Working with big singers with different musical approaches and making sure each one seamlessly flows into the other. I have also composed two pieces for the show and have worked on the arrangement and design, as well as picked the chorus voices that will accompany them. I am really happy and very honoured to be doing this,'' the release quoted Arun Prakash as saying.
