Vinayaka Natyalaya hosts largest roller skating Bharathanatyam dance recital, sets record
CHENGALPATTU, April 3: Vinayaka Natyalaya, a dance school run by Meenakshi Raghavan (alias Priya Raghavan), has created a record of sort by organizing a unique Bharathanatyam programme. It saw a group roller skating dance recital by students of Vinayaka Natyalaya.

This is perhaps the first time that a group roller skating Bharathanatyam dance recital of this scale was held.

The programme was held in Chengalpattu, some 55 km from the city of Chennai. Two hundred and twenty students participated in the unique dance programme, which was held on April 2.

Claimed to be the first such programme ever held anywhere, the roller skating Bharathanatyam dance recital got recognition with a certificate of record issued by Assist World Records, whose officials were also present at the programme.

The Chief News Editor of Thanthi Television, Mr. Rangaraj Pande, the Editor of Snehethi, Ms. Manjula Ramesh, and the former Editor of Vikatan, Mr. Prakash Swami, participated in the programme.

Vinayaka Natyalaya has been helping the cause of spreading this dance form to non-traditional centres in an inclusive format.
