As a new season gets under way, Chennai firm Tandem Consulting launches music app
CHENNAI, December 1: If December comes, can music be far behind? Even as the people of Chennai are gearing up for the annual music season, a city-based company has launched a cultural app that could be a welcome utility tool for Carnatic music buffs.

Called ‘Music of Madras’, the cultural app is conceptulized by K. Kalyanasundaram, a chartered accountant. It is developed by city-based Tandem Consulting Private Limited. ``It will be a complete repository of all live music, dance and drama events in the city throughout the year,'' said a release. It is primarily intended to help artistes to connect with their audience and enable organizers to successfully run programmes in the city.

The app was launched by well-known vocalist O.S. Arun.

This free App will be available initially on Android platform via Google Play Store.

The company claims that the app has user-friendly features. According to Mr. Kalyanasundaram, it could prove an useful guide for users, and help them know upcoming performances in the city. The App will allow users to search for upcoming performances by artistes. And, it can also help you get details of the upcoming events [vocal, harikatha, bhajan, instrumental, Carnatic, Hindustani, jugalbandhi, Bharatanatyam, Kuchipidi, Odissi, ballets, drama, lec-dems, panel discussions, talks and the like). The app will allow users choose and mark upcoming performances as their favorite, order for tickets, and donor passes. It will also guide users to the venue via a route map.

Initially, the app will cover performances mostly by artistes at venues in Chennai. In due course, the app will expand its services to include organizers and venues in other cities and towns as well.
