Brahma Gana Sabha art festival begins on December 3
CHENNAI, December 2: The December Art Festival - 2017 of Brahma Gana Sabha will get under way here tomorrow. The Governor of Tamil Nadu, Mr. Banwarilal Purohit, will inaugurate the festival.
The inaugural function will see the Governor confer 'Vaadhya Padhmam' title on M. Chandrasekaran, 'Gaana Padhmam' on T.V. Gopalakrishnan, 'Naatya Padmam' on Nandini Ramani, and 'Naataka Padhmam' on B.M. Purushotham.

Industrialist Nalli Mr. Kuppuswami Chettiar will preside over the function.

Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman and Urmila Sathyanarayana will felicitate the award winners.

The evening function will be followed by a violin duet concert by M. Chandrasekaran and G. Bharathi.

The festival will run up to the last day of 2017.

The festival will feature leading artistes such as Ranjani-Gayathari, Sikkil Gurucharan, K.J.Yesudoss, S. Sowmya, N. Ravikiran and Priya sisters, among others.

The main concerts will be held at the Sivagami Pethachi Auditorium, Luz Church Road, Chennai -4.

Brahma Gana Sabha will also host a four-session a day concert series at the Arkay Convention Centre (3rd floor), Royapettah High Road, Mylapore, Chennai -4, from December 22 till December 31. These are open to all.

The sabha will also hold a joint concert series from December 15 at the P.S. Dakshninamurthy Auditorim, P.S. Higher Secondary School, R.K. Mutt Road, Mylapore, Chennai-4. This series will be held in association with PSIMAC, and start from December 15. These too are open to all.

In all, the festival provides the rasikas quite an option. Also, it provides a number of artistes an useful platform to showcase their talent during the music season.
