Geetha Raja's students perk up Mylapore festival with lively concert
CHENNAI, January 11: Students of Smt. Geetha Raja presented the Kutcheri in the Park on the second morning of the Sundaram Finance Mylapore Festival at the Nageswara Rao Park here on January 11.

The students presented compositions that included Papanasam Sivan’s Kapali (Mohanam/Adi), Thyagarajar’s Tulasamma (Devagandhari/Adi), Mayuram Viswanatha Sastri’s Kanthamam (Sindhubhairavi/Ekam(Tisra gati)) and Paramacharya Shri Chandrasekhara Saraswathi’s Maitreem Bhajatha (Ragamalika / Adi).

T.T. Srinivasaraghavan, Managing Director of Sundaram Finance Ltd., presented certificates to the artistes.

The Mylapore Festival has over the years emerged as an iconic event during this time of the year. Besides, mikeless concerts by students, the festival also features kolam contest. And, the kolam contest especially has been a big draw among people around this temple town who participate in great numbers. Also, the kolam contest has been drawing attention from the media in the city as well neighboring states.
